Therapeutic Recreation Specialist -- Therapeutic Recreation ProgramVicki Lang rejoined Touch of Nature in 2005. Vicki previously worked at "Touch" as a counselor with the Camp Little Giant summer residential program for individuals with disabilities. She is now a "Therapeutic Recreation Specialist" and serves as the Coordinator of the Therapeutic Recreation Program. Vicki earned a B.S. in Recreation with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation at SIUC in 1985. She brings extensive experience to the job. From 1978 to 1980, Vicki served as a counselor at summer camps in New Hampshire and Wisconsin. In 1981 and 1982, she was a summer counselor at Touch of Nature. For the past 21 years, she has been employed at the Center for Comprehensive Services, Inc. (CCS), in Carbondale, Illinois. CCS is a residential center that serves individuals with traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries. Vicki's career at CCS took her from starting out as a staff member, to becoming a supervisor, treatment coordinator, and finally to being the residential operations manager. She is also certified in First Aid, CPR, Food Safety and Sanitation, and CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) and has achieved professional status as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) with the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification. She has a strong interest in environmental education. Vicki is a member of Ducks Unlimited and the Wild Turkey Federation, and serves on boards of numerous outdoor oriented organizations, including the Friends of Giant City (President since 2003), Southern Illinois Audubon Society (currently Vice-President, previously Outing Chair and Education Chair), Friends of Crab Orchard Refuge (Secretary since 2001), the Committee for the Southernmost Illinois Bird Festival, and until her recent employment, had served on the Board of the Friends of Touch of Nature.
